We are interested in how you came up with the idea to open such a unique café and how the name Chidori came about.

Since 2018, with a strong sense of purpose to enhance the “life experience” of young Vietnamese people, Chidori Hospitality was founded to fulfill that mission. Vietnam – is a developing country with rapidly changing lifestyles, trends, demands, and preferences. Young people between 17 and 25 are under tremendous pressure from the rapid urban development and the escalating living standards.

Realizing the demand from the market and the lack of private space for young Vietnamese people in this period, Chidori brought the “Coffee in bed” model to Vietnam, changing and improving the model to suit Vietnamese youth.

Chidori has a total of 7 branches throughout the city of Ho Chi Minh City. Each branch has a typical Coffee in Bed space, but the co-working space of each branch is designed to suit each area.

Chidori in Japanese means bird of paradise, a bird that symbolizes happiness, peace and perseverance. Chidori Coffee in Bed® has a design characterized by Japanese minimalism with a small bed that is likened to a lovely bird’s nest, a “shelter” for tired birds. Amid the bustle and excitement of life, everyone needs a small corner to calm down after stressful working/studying hours, or simply to let the soul have moments of peace.

We see that you have a lot of different rooms for your guests. Did you open them all at once or did you get inspiration for the others over time?

Each branch has a slightly different design to match each area, but generally, there will still be two spaces: a coffee in a bed and a co-working space.

What are the guests’ impressions and do you have guests from all over the world?

The guests often share that they are impressed with us because they did not think there was such a peaceful and fully equipped place in a bustling place like Ho Chi Minh City. Chidori gives them a private and convenient resting space and helps them have a comfortable experience like home. Currently, we have over 40K member customers, of whom 10% are foreigners.

Besides traditional teas, do you have any traditional events in the cafe and surprises for guests during the year?

Besides the usual menu at the store, each event in a year like the Tet holidays, Christmas, Valentine, etc we always release some seasonal drinks. In each branch, we have a co-working space and a meeting room to be ready to cooperate in organizing thematic workshops like candle making, perfume making, notebook decoration workshops, etc

What’s your signature drink and what do guests order the most?

Our most popular customer drink is tea, which we exclusively import directly from Japan. Our best-selling is the Genmaicha milktea.

Is there a time limit on how long can people stay in coffee beds?

The first hour of using our beds costs 50,000đ and we offer other options as well.
1. “Little recharge” costs 80.000đ includes one drink and 1 hour using the bed.
2. “Take a break” costs 160.000đ includes two drinks or cake and 2 hours using a bed
3. “Mini staycation” costs 240.000đ includes two drinks + 1 food or cake and 5 hours using the bed
4. “One day getaway” costs 350.000đ included 2 drinks + 1 food + cake and 12 hours using bed

What should people know when visiting your coffee place? Like policy and coffee rules?

Chidori provides customers with private space; however, the model of Chidori is still limited to a coffee shop.

1. Chidori installs cameras in each private area of Coffee in Bed to limit customer behavior and to provide a place for those who genuinely need a healthy and peaceful resting place. At the same time, Chidori is responsible for ensuring information security and respecting customer privacy, considering it a top priority throughout the operation process.

They commit to not viewing the camera without permission and only law enforcement agencies have the right to request footage if there is suspicion of criminal activity at the store.

2. Chidori also has regulations to ensure that the space is used for its intended purpose, ensuring civilization and safety place:
– Don’t bring outside food into our coffee shop
– No smoking
– We aim to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in our coffee shop, where everyone can rest well. Therefore, we kindly ask that you keep your voice low during your visit.

– If you are looking for a more intimate space for couples, we recommend our “private room” which doesn’t have a camera inside.
